After trying a bunch of things it turned out to not be the server at all. The problem turned out to be in the router sitting between the SBS2003 and the internet. The power failure affected that as well.
That's one of the great things about event logs. You can always find something wrong even...
I'm having a problem with out SBS 2003 server and could use some help. Everything has been working fine. Last Thursday night we had an extended power failure and the server went down. Power came back on and we restarted and since then I can't access RWW from outside. From inside the network...
It's resolved. As I suspected all along is was at their hosts site. After about 12 phone calls, multiple trouble tickets, many emails I stumbled on the right person who in 10 minutes discovered that they were being blocked at the router level and cleared the problem.
Thanks to anyone who put...
The power failure was at their email/website hosts location not theirs. Also they can connect to websites other than those hosted by their provider. Appreciate the thought though.
I could really use some troubleshooting help. This one has me stumped. I have a client running MS SBS 2003 server. It has been running fantastic. Yesterday they started having email issues. They use a hosting service for their website and email. I contacted them and they had a major power...
That kb does not apply. It was a one time occurrence (so far anyways thankfully), it all happened in a minute and a half, and it was 750 different user names. I'm pretty sure that points to an attack. Thanks for the suggestion. Any other thoughts?
I need help with what certainly appears to be a hacking attempt on a Windows 2003 SBS. The event viewer shows 750 failed logons over a period of approximately a minute and a half. All the User Names are different but other than that they are identical. Here's a copy of one of the event viewer...
I am having a strange problem with an old win98 computer being added to a 2003 server domain. When i reboot I get the following message from windows networking:
The following error occurred while loading the device vnetsup - error 6101: The string specified by the workgroup keyword in the...
I had this problem as well. I also run the client software on our workstations and a couple of those would not start on July 28th. After many hours of trouble-shooting and failed repair attempts I traced it to the PowerChute software and upgraded all copies on our network. It caused a number of...
I finally resolved this. I've been working remotely (Isn't VNC one of the best pieces of software ever?) and finally got in there today. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling MS network client and tcp/ip services with no change. On a hunch I uninstalled Mcafee Firewall (which had been disabled for...
Guaranteed that's your problem. Go into services and disable PCBEAGENT. You will probably see that it's status is still listed as "starting". Once you disable that all the other problems disappear.

I tested this and its not the issue. I have ordered another 5 licenses as we will be needing them but I'm still looking for suggestions on this problem.
Thanks to all who have offered help.

That didn't work either but thanks for the help.
Regarding pinging the domain controller:
Server is churchillcorp01
Domain is churchillcorpo
IP of server is 10.0.0.80
I can ping by IP and by FQDN but if I ping just churchillcorpo I get unknown host. That's correct isn't it?
The really stange...
Are you by any chance running APC Powerchute software? The expiration of the Sun Java Runtime Environment certificate in versions 6.x of the PowerChute Business Edition has been causing lots of seemingly unrelated trouble. I can give you further info if it applies.
Good luck,
Rich
