We have created some Impromptu reports based on direct SQL rather than through catalogues.
These reports worked fine with Impromptu version 7.0
We converted to version 7.1 last week and now some of the reports give 'DMS-E-SS_SYNTAX error number 239' error and will not run (I have not reviewed...
SLN007, I had a similar problem trying to insert the results from a selection prompt into the header of a report I had created.
CognosHelp suggested, within Impromptu, I click the 'Insert' tab, 'more Objects' tab, 'prompt variables' tab.
I know this worked, but I don't remember for sure what...
Dave, Thanks for the quick response. Sorry, I took so long getting back, I was trying another solution that was suggested prior to yours.
We are using oracle and the Decode function was what I needed. The report works fine.
Thanks again
Steve
Gset, I never looked at User classes, but the tables, joins and folder differences between catalogues (old/new) are highlighted in red - both sides. also the alias names showed up properly.
It has been a few months, but I said I would get back. I have finally tested I-Assistant for comparing new/old catalogues. The results are excellant.
I find this is an very good tool for documenting Cognos catalogues, tables, joins and reports (I have not looked at security) for both Impromptu...
I have numerous records in 1 table. I have many different record types and each record may be 1 of two different status values - 'A' or 'B'. I want to print 1 line for each record type. I want that line to show the type and the total # of records for each type and the total # of status values...
We purchased the I-Assistant last week. I have not had time to review the help documentation. I have only used it for documenting folders, tables and joins and that part works fine. The process to load my catalogues (generally under 1MB and around 150 tables) is < 1 minute. I have briefly looked...
I have been assigned as administrator for our recently purchased Cognos reporting tool (Impromtptu and PowerPlay).
I was not impressed with the catalogue documentation available (Content overview) and asked our Cognos consultant if there was something better. He was going to try and create...
I also have a subform that at one-time worked, but then after some revisions I got "THIS RECORDSET IS NOT UPDATABLE" message at the bottom of the screen. My main form query links 2 tables, the subforms has many combo boxes that pull data from many different tables/queries and I update...
I have found a answer for my problem. I hope it helps you with yours.
Use the 'SUM' function in the 'total' line. In the field area convert the tested field value to a zero or one. The SUM will then tell you how many of the tested values were found
e.g. TestForValue05:iif([fieldA]=05,1,0 - the...
I am also trying to count the number of times a field contains a specific value.
e.g I have 100 records, For field1 there are 15 records containing the value 01, 20 records containing the value 02, 28 records containing the value 03, 32 records containing the value 00, etc.
Can I produce...
I am trying to clean up an Access 97 dB.
I know I can get the information I need by looking at each individual Form and Report, but there must be a simpiler way.
Is there a process that will show me the 'Record source' name for Forms and reports.
Is there a process that will show me all...
One of our tech guys found the probable answer
My Control panel, Regional Setting, Date tab default setting for my short date format was dd/mm/yy
my long date format was mmmm d, yyyy
We changed them to short date = m/d/yy and long date format to dddd, mmmm dd, yyyy
Everything appears to work...
We are a small utility company and everyone is connected to the same databases through servers.
My query 'groups' data by various fields. One of these is the 'text' date field named 'ILCRDJ'.
The field in the query is Month:Month([ILCRDJ])
The first two records have values of...
