Having problems with DFM and e-mail notifications

I was using DFM to notify us about network events. I altered the mail_notify.conf file so that we were sent more specific e-mails. This has been working for about a month but all of a sudden it just quit. I cant seem to get the DfmMailNotifier service to start. I will enable the process but...

    6040 vs. Sniffer distributed

Yes, we have been in touch with NAI about the issues. They are more than willing to help us out until all the bugs are resolved. I intended to use the 4000 to view the s6040 captures but there are some bugs with the timestamps that prevent this. NAI is currently working on resolving this...

    CCIE Written

The CCIE written Routing and Switching guide is not nearly enough resource material needed for the CCIE written. You should also read Routing TCP/IP Vol I & II LAN Switching These three are the core of the test but there are many other books that will benefit as well. Just dont count on...

    6040 vs. Sniffer distributed

NAI plans to come out with Sniffview for the s6000 early next year. Until then I think the product is not worth it. The webconsole is awful. Sure it has good capturing ability but the 4000 can handle most everyday captures just fine.

    6040 vs. Sniffer distributed

Our company just purchased a Sniffer Distributed and a 6040 unit. I am not at all impressed with the 6040. It is slow and you cannot use sniffview with it. Is there any real benefit of having this device instead of the other SNiffer distributed models? I was just curious if any else feels...

    Cisco VPN Concentrator and PAT

I have a lan-to-lan setup between 2 cisco vpn concentrators. I have PAT enabled on one side. All the inside ips should translate to the one PAT I put in. Everything works fine when one machine goes across the tunnel but when another machine simulataneously tries to go across the tunnel it...

    pix-to-pix vpn

Actually I figured it out. We were routing the traffic asymetrically, once we routed the traffic to and back over the same path it seemed to work. I dont understand why I could ping using asymetric routing but I couldn't use telnet. Oh well, it works now.

    SPAN monitoring configuration...

I have a 4006 w/supIII. Once you configure a destination port for a span session it can only accept traffic from the span session. It can no longer repond to any other traffic. I ran into this problem when we deployed these new switches, I dont know why it works like this but it does.

    IOS-Update automaticaly

You can also purchase CiscoWorks2000 to do this job for you, but that might be a little costly.

    Gig channel config help

You should try to set them at "on" on both sides. This is the way I always configure our gigachannels. I am not sure but if you set them at desirable on both sides and turn off negotiation, they might not become a bundle.
