then this error message:

... then I try the e-machines recovery CD I have-

I switched to another IDE cable, still no response.
The BIOS does see the hard drive.
Also I went thru the 6 Windows set-up floppies to the point where it says load the Windows CD. I load the CD, it starts to spin (not constant); but it nothing further shows up on the screen

The CD is in the boot sequence...
I assume there is some sort of driver for the CD drive in the BIOS?
Also I couldn't find anything in the BIOS for drive letter designations; is it possible that the MB is not recognizing the drive where it is supposed to be?

New MB (gigabyte GA-965GM-S2), new HDD (Western digital 160 GB SATA drive), I am trying to format the HDD and install windows XP. I thought I could just turn the computer on with the windows XP CD in the drive and it would boot.
It goes thru POST fine, then it says BOOT FROM CD-DVD drive. Then...
