Hi,
I am troubleshooting restoring single emails with Backup Exec 2010 R2 on Exchange 2010 (not SP1) in a 64bit 2008 r2 environment.
Symantec has given me tons of more or less relevant technotes and finally something gave an error which allowed them to refer me to Microsoft. However I do not...
Thanks for the replies

If the file server related error message was a single problem that is probably a great link. But the thing is, all these issues are, on the various servers, symptoms of the same problem. Which comes down to those Event Log warnings and errors.

Alright where to start...
Sometime about a week ago I started having problems to establish remote desktop connections to various servers. The login screen would either result in:
RPC Server is unavailable.
or
Access denied.
Theres a reghack to ignore user config errors which allows access me...
If the drive came with any software, I threw that away since I was always planing on using BE.
Thinking of re-installing BE. Will I be able to access the data easilly on the tapes that does have some backups on them if I reinstall BE?
I was running backups just fine using Backup Exec 12 installed on a Win Server 2003 for a while after installation. Tapes are HP LTO2 and the tape drive is an internal HP Ultrium 448.
Then there was a period of time where no backups were done because noone was changing tapes.

Well I should have read your last post more carefully Pagy in regards to "back to basics", I rebooted the OldDC this weekend for some updates and what do you know...NewDC is working now.
I don't know what to say...bloody Microsoft.
Pings work fine from oldDC.
I was supposed to check safe mode yesterday but got tied up with other things all day, wont have physical access to the server until next week unfortunately.
But I am guessing ping will work just fine, I mean, I can RDP (but not login) to newDC and I can remote...
Yes, my domain has a trusted domain, for security reasons I have changed the name of that domain to TrustedDomain. Obviously theres something not quite right with the trust, but that should effect me setting up a new DC on my domain, should it?
I am logged with the domain administrator account...

netdiag /fix results:
.......................................
Computer Name: OLDDC
DNS Host Name: oldDC.domain.local
System info : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Build 3790)
Processor : x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 3...
Sorry, I meant to say my Domain not new Domain, but yes, I was referring to domain.local.
I do however believe the domain was renamed when the company was bought 2-3 years ago, but this is a long time before I started here.
domain.local is AD Integrated and replicated to all Domain Controllers. Dynamic Updates are allowing both secure and nonsecure.
I disabled the secondary NIC which is fine for now.
nltest /dsregdns I now get:
Connection Status = 1311 0x51f ERROR_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
The command completed...
Forgot to mention, the 10.10.10.10 connection is used for a different network, this connection is not configured for DNS and the 192.168.1.100 one is the primary.
