i am a novice,i dont know how to see if there blocked or not,i dont knowingly have anything installed like anitvirus/firewall/ antispam/etc, a simple win98se/modem/aol is what i have.

Tiger Woods PGA 2003 needs certain ports to be open,I got an error message saying-cant connect to game server,FAQ for this game referes to the need for some ports to be open which a few are HTTP 80,HTTPS 443/both inbound,how can I check for/open these ports?..........

when you double click on my computer, the D:/ reads the name of the game, but that "logo" is from another game already uninstalled.i dont know how the cd-rom is retrieving this,possibly an old .bmp i cant find?unusual....

many times when changing m/boards,they say to reistall OS.You installed new drivers,good,delete all old ones now,theres many places an old driver or anything left from an old board can hide.registry,etc.. somewhere your OS might think its still using your old board.

the battery is a good guess,how about any missing or misplaced m/board jumpers? power leads to board on right?

two ideas are,at command prompt use the "copy" command to transfer a file.In dos you can type A:\,C:\, unless your BIOS needs tuning. For safe mode,use MSCONFIG to help find why you cant start normally.(start-run-type in "MSCONFIG") scandisk.exe from command prompt can help too.

power tools looks good,i was using the reg cleaner and a wipe called Ultra wipe from(red strike) which i like alot.i say try and learn about keeping things clean,you can gain speed as well as space.CleanDisk2002,UltraWipe,RegCleaner, is a good combo i have found.
