I have a file that is supplied regularly by a piece of software to be sent to another group. The file is supposed to have a record length of 57. For some reason the file does not break to the next line after the length of 57. Instead, it just stretches and wraps on forever.
I am a newbie to...

I have a data file with fixed length records starting with an ID number. I have another file with a list of ID numbers and names. I'm comparing the data file to the list file and removing any record in the data file that doesn't have a match in the list file. When I do this, the READ comand is...
My system has two harddrives and is set for dual boot. The first harddrive is a Windows drive. The second drive has both a Dos partition and my Linux partition on it. What I want to do is get rid of the Dos partition from the second drive all together and enlarge the Linux partition to use the...

I'm using KDE. Maybe I'll try GNOME. I put this question to Forum on www.mandrakeuser.org and it got no response what so ever. I suppose the people there were mostly home users with no Unix server to telnet into.
Thanks so much for trying to help. I do appreciate your time. :) You can...
It looks normal in the typescript file, but it doesn't look normal when I'm doing it. Its all slanted and I can't backspace or anything.
I'm just telneting from the linux prompt. Everything looks fine in linux, but when I telnet to Unix and login it goes bad.
