    printing a .ps file on a laserjet5

    hi, I had always thought that sending a .ps file straight to an HP laserjet 5 would produce output according to the PostScript commands that the file contains. The printer is set to auto for the right setting. Where is my misapprehension of what is meant to occur? computer nob, canada
