    Western Digital HDD gone noisy...

    I have replaced numerous Western Digital HD's in customers and friends systems after they failed using other brand drives. WD seems to have a high failure rate in my experience. I have had good luck with Maxtor drives over the years and usually recommend them.

    Compaq Presario Missing Boot Partition

    Problem solved. Hard drive failure (Quantum Fireball) had a burnt chip on the hard drive logic board. Replaced drive with a new 7200 RPM Maxtor unit and a clean install of Windows. System up and running fine.
