Western Digital HDD gone noisy...
I have replaced numerous Western Digital HD's in customers and friends systems after they failed using other brand drives. WD seems to have a high failure rate in my experience. I have had good luck with Maxtor drives over the years and usually recommend them.- TLC1964

Compaq Presario Missing Boot Partition
Problem solved. Hard drive failure (Quantum Fireball) had a burnt chip on the hard drive logic board. Replaced drive with a new 7200 RPM Maxtor unit and a clean install of Windows. System up and running fine.- TLC1964

Compaq Presario Missing Boot Partition
Kaeri, I am having the exact same problem. Co-worker just brought me a Compaq 7360 with the same symptoms. Compaq does store part of the BIOS on the hard drive in a hidden partition. This process is known as Initial Microcode Load (IML). I located the ROM BIOS update from Compaq at the...- TLC1964
