I want to alter some settings for all users of explorer within a domain. I searched through the domain policies but haven't found a key I want to have set to a specific option.
The key I want to have set is that which rules checking for a newer version of a web-page. On some computers within the...
I am working in a primary school with a lot of kids using the internet. One group though use the internet not the way they should (blood and gore) so I have to block access to internet for this group.
The group uses a single account which should make things easier.
We use winrout pro, I´ve...
quell, sounds like a thing worth trying (and heck, it saves a lot of downloading etc ;-) ). As a matter of fact, this server was custom build on an Asus board, with 128 mb SDram. I wish it was an A-brand machine! The machine in case sits in a very comfy but warm case...approx. 30 degrees min...
LisaWo,
it´s even worse than I expected... Starting Explorer on the server causes an immediate reboot. Think this is a virus. It takes the server a couple of minutes to restart, it takes forever to get to the bottom of this problem. I did check the servicepack on it, SP1...
I´ll check on...
LisaWo,
sounds like you´ve encountered this problem before. I´ll try to run the RPCfix. Problem is though, that every time I open a window to browse through a drive the system reboots! So, when I try to run a backup (or better, restore it), every time I try to indicate what part of the drives I...
the tital says it all: suddenly my W2000server sp1 has a neat little trick up her sleeve: every time I want to browse the drives through 'my computer' or rightclick on start, explore, the server reboots immediately. Cleared all the logs, and to my horror I found numerous reports of re-initiated...
TProblem solved. Somehow it all works again. I did however run a spybot search and destroy and found a neat little trs-bot (and deleted it), ánd ran Norman that found another virus (I thought virus scanner were supposed to scan...Looks like I have to initiate the scanning...). That didn't solve...
I have one machine running IE 6.0.2600 on w2k that has this thing with Google. Whenever someone tries www.google.com (or www.google.nl) the machine stops with the message downloading file / from google[1]. I tried open, download, but nothing works. Getting to google through a searchstring work...
I am currently using Winroute pro as a proxy on our w2k server. Within the proxy I have blocked several explicit sites (This is on a primary school...). When a kid tries to go to one of these sites they get a 403-page. What I would like to know is if it's possible to redirect them to another...
Probably something small, but annoying...
I have a printer recently installed on a PC running w2000pro. I installed it as admin. and it ran like a clock. Then I shared the printer so that the user could print from it using another PC. Tested this and it works fine. But (!) if the user logs onto...
Just bought 7 Xerox C11 printers, that have to be run under W2k. The drivers provided were only for w3.1 (are there people out there running that still?), NT4.0 but no W2k. So I turned to Internet, downloaded the driver (note that even the NT4.0 drivers are ment for w2k according to Xerox...)...
Well, you were right guys! It all worked out the way you said. The client machines had their DNS set to automtic. Changed that to the server TCP/IP address, ran ipconfig /registerdns and secedit /refreshpolicy etc., adn I have a fully working group policy running! Better start closing all...
thank, I've been reading another thread concerning similar problems. Correct me if I'm wrong with the following:
On the server with IP-address 200.100.100.10 I set DNS on the outgoing card to the addresses provided by our ISP,
while on the card connected to our local network I set the DNS to...
Hi,
(sorry if this sound dumb, but I didn't 'build' the server)
I haven't actually looked into the separate computers that much. When all computers are on,I find them in the default Computers map. As for inheritance, The only (!) GPO that I have is on the OU. Do you suggest that I looked into...
Hi, please please help me with this one.
I've got a w2k server (installed by other company...) and 45 client machines running w2k pro.
Placed a new OU in the AD Users and Computers. Named this OU limited. placed all possible restrictions on this OU. Then I placed a dummy user (member of...
