It's probably because the jpg compression is affecting the image. Try saving the jpg with 100% quality. Fireworks defaults to 80% which may be causing the issue.

i'm using a control array, and all the labels are ending up in picturebox(0)... even if I set it to picturebox(1)

It's possible, but I'd say as well that I was using a standard font. I've been a graphics designer and software developer for years, and I've NEVER seen a problem like this with these fonts, or any other program. Whatever it's cause, I feel strongly that it's not the font's fault!

Yes, it is an odd bug, isn't it.
Mine was with the letters e & a. If an a followed an e (only with this one font), the problem remained.
Real Estate came out as:
Re
al Estate
Also, when I was changing fonts, I also noticed one of the fonts put a huge gap between e and a, so Real Estate...
Did you notice that if you change the font, the problem goes away? But if you return to the same font again, the problem returns.
I had this happen to me last night. I selected a font that was a close match to what I chose and everything was fine.
