I am currently planning a file cluster migration to new hardware (both server and shared storage) and was wondering what the best way to migrate this would be.
My thoughts are as follows :
Build new cluster on new shared storage
Restore old cluster data onto new shared storage
Recreate cluster...
Well basically this machine is one of a number that is experiencing this issue. They are currently residing in an Novell environment and are due to be migrated to an AD environment... Whilst it isn't a problem at the moment, I think it may cause issues when they are migrated.
I think you hit...
I understand that the NETBIOS name can be changed by changing the computer - I am just trying to ascertain why the "hostname" would be different and how that is set ?
I'll try and explain a little more clearly...
If I go into System Properties/Machine Name I get for example "Machine1" (or with regard to the Full computer name - Machine1.ad.local.co.uk if it was to join AD).
If however I type hostname I will get "Machine2". I am wondering why the hostname...
I've just come across a PC that has a different NETBIOS name to the hostname. I'm wondering what implications this may have it the machine was placed in an AD environment and secondly how such a situation could arise ?(I realise they are different properties of a machine, but in an MS...
Hopefully a simple question...
Just wondering, what happens if I have a FE/BE configuration and the FE server dies. Will the BE continue to work as a normal single exchange server, or it will be affected by the absent FE server ?
Thanks
I'm thinking of setting up the following and was wondering if anyone has had experience of this and any pitfalls to look out for.
- 2 nodes on each site (with a 5th voting node on a separate site in case of site failure)
- Shared storage on both sites that will be provisioned via EVA cluster...

So is it possible to say have 3 nics (4 including the heartbeat) with each one being responsible for a different virtual server in a different subnet. I want to try and isolate each of the virtual servers as they would be used for different organisations...

Is there a way within active directory that I can use to see which users are using which logon scripts. I have over 350 logon scripts and need to see which are actually being used before I start a consolidation excercise
Thanks
Does anybody know how to achieve the following :
I have a VLANd network with a DHCP server running on VLAN 1 which is also running PXE as part of RIS.
I have a client in VLAN 2 which I require to PXE boot into RDP(Altiris) which is running PXE services on VLAN2.
I can get the client in 2 to...

Well.... in addition to the replacing of the servers, the shared storage is also being replaced (i.e. moving from a shared enclosure to a SAN). I did consider the approach that you mention above, although I though that with the added problem of moving the all of the data/quorum as well it would...
