Exporting drawings to manipulate in Corel Draw?

If Copy/Paste Special doesn't work, try exporting to a R12 DXF - most drawing software can open/import these without a problem. Note, this is not the default DXF export type - you need to DXFOUT, then select R12 DXF from the drop-down box. Hope it works, Gary.

AutoCAD LT 2004 lineweight do not plot with HP designjet 500

This is a known bug with SP1. Autodesk knows about it and is attempting to fix the problem. Either un-install SP1 or wait for the 'patched' SP1 - shouldn't be too long a wait - I think they've got a fix, but are just testing it out. Cheers, Gary.

    AUTOCAD- PHOTOSHOP-ILLUSTRATOR

Copy/Paste Special...make sure you set VIEWRES quite high to maintain a crisp line (1000 should do nicely)....and set WMFBKGND to OFF if you are using 2000/2002. Cheers, Gary.

.iges files - how's it all work then?

If I remember rightly, R14 (or possibly R12, can't remember which) used to have the IGESOUT and IGESIN commands. Then Autodesk dropped them for 2000 and used to offer a 'Data Exchange CD' for AutoCAD which had IGES and STEP translators on it (which you had to pay about £500 for!). I don't...

Black Dots on screen go away on zoom

This usually appears due to a graphics card glitch (I'm guessing the 'dots' do not print) - you could try newer drivers (or older ones!). Also, check to see if AutoCAD is using software or hardware graphics acceleration (Tools, Options). Software acceleration is slower (for 3D work), but can...

    Export gif format files

Not that I'm aware of - I heard the GIF filters are too expensive - not sure if that's the reason? You can export to JPG, PNG, BMP, TIF etc. by setting up a 'virtual plotter' in Plotter Manager.......maybe 'plot' to JPG and then batch convert them (if you have a lot) using Paint Shop Pro or...

Status Bar has disappeared in CAD

If you've changes the MODEMACRO variable to an extremely long sentence, or prompt the button may well be off the screen! Type MODEMACRO and change it to a single dot . This resets the variable to default. If this doesn't work, I'm not sure what's happened! thefonzzz

AutoCAD 14 & Autocad 2002 .dwg file sharing

You could try the DWF export. The drawing/file would be viewable in Autodesk's standalone viewers (like Volo View Express, WHIP and the new Express Viewer), downloadable from the Autodesk site. This means it wouldn't matter which version of AutoCAD the end-user had and the drawing would NOT be...

    AutoCAD conversion to PDF format?

I have used the PDF Printer Driver (that comes with Acrobat 5.0) to convert DWG files into PDF. You can tweak the driver to output good quality files, that are very readable, that are typically only 20-80Kb. You can use the printer driver with the AutoCAD Batch Plotter utility to output 100 or...

Making 2D drawing from 3D format

Hi, I use SOLPROF to get 2D drawings from 3D solids - when it works it works well..........when it doesn't, I just plot to a DXB file. Either way, you get a 2D drawing. Hope this helps, thefonzzz

Help inserting Cad .dwg file into 3D Studio Viz

Hi, Not sure where the problem is - you don't say - but I always use the DWG Link Manager (located in the Utilities tab). The drawing usually comes in fine though sometimes I need to change the viewport configuration (in VIZ) so that 'Force 2-sided' is checked. One thing to remember though -...

known compatibility issues between autodesk inventor and office 2000

Sounds like the old Office SR-1 and AutoCAD problem to me... It's a Microsoft issue - your version of Office probably has a CD key that begins with GC6J3... This link should tell you everything you need to know (eg, you need to enter a new CD key!) Go here...

    Background.........?

You could copy/paste (OLE) a raster file into AutoCAD (or LT) and resize it using the handles. If you right-click on the image, use 'Send to back' and turn off the 'Selectable' option, you can draw geometry over the picture. If it's a scan of a legacy drawing, you *could* effectively trace it...
