Thanks - that did the trick fuser -kxuc /cdrom I needed to wait about 2 minutes and then it killed the process. It turns out that there was a smudge on the cdrom, I wiped it off and tried again and all is well. Go figure....... Thanks for all the help

We're running AIX 5.2 ML2 and it looks like we have a bad cd in the cdrom. I tried killing the running process with kill -9. no help. If I run fuser /cdrom, no pid comes back. I'm just trying to eject the cd. What can I do short of rebooting the node?

We're planning to take 11 SP-AIX nodes down and surplus them. I need to wipe away all data on the internal disks including the O/S. Each node has 2 disks which are mirrored for rootvg. What is the easiest & quickest way to get this accomplished? All nodes are running AIX 4.3.3.8

I was told that you can use the 4 digit LED panel on the front of the drawer to help identify the drawer and give it your own name (SSA1, SSA2,...). I could not find how to do that anywhere. Anyone know how to do this or is it some type of status indicator and I just got some bad info. Thanks...
