I can't boot into safe mode either. I also tried booting off of the Vista DVD to attempt a repair and this does not work either.

Vista Home Premium 4 GB RAM issue

It always had the 4 GB of RAM. I tried swapping out sticks of RAM and it doesn't matter what the configuration is. I tried running the diagnostics from the BIOS and it didn't return any errors. I only have two memory sticks so removing one at a time is the only test that I can perform.

I am having an issue running Microsoft Vista Home Premium SP1 with 4GB RAM on a Dell Inspiron 1526 laptop. It ran fine initially but now it is stuck in an infinite reboot with a BSOD. Unfortunately it reboots so fast that I can't get the BSOD information. It will boot fine if I remove one...

    Hardware for squidguard

I have recently performed this configuration on a RedHat 7.2 install. You need to specify the redirector to point to the squidGuard executable and your squidGuard.conf file. This should be in your specified in your squid.conf file. I have had success in doing this and it works quite well. If...

SAMBA: Can't see Linux Computer in Network Neighborhood

I would like to add one item here. Your hosts allow is missing an octet. I have experienced some problems configuring SAMBA in the past using swat. I would recommend modifying the files by hand. You can usually find some good samples to follow on the internet. The smb.conf file usually has...

    Samba on AIX 4.3.3

I have been attempting to use Samba on an RS6000 running AIX 4.3.3. I can get Samba working but have difficulty when I try to share the folders with user level security. The clients are currently logging into a domain. If I leave the share open to allow guests it works but when I try to...

Running out of Class C addresses any ideas

You may want to consider configuring vlans on your network. This would require using your switches and routers to accomplish this. This may give you the most flexibility and save you a lot of time.

Replacing NT4.0 PDC with new server2000 machine

If your goal is to run Windows 2000 as a Domain Controller then you have to install active directory. It is my understanding that in the only way to have a Win2k server run as a Domain controller active directory must be installed. I am currently working in a lab environment on this exact...
