Hi Darren, other things to check are that the scsi id's are set with the autoloader at the lowest id and the drive a higher id. verify that the scsi cables are correctly orientated. Host to AUTOLOADER then to the drive, termination at the drive. Make sure you are using DLT IV media...

HP SureStor 818 backup speed issues

Darren, go into the Scsi card bios at power up and check that the card is set for wide negotiation and the transfer speeds are at the highest for all scsi id's. that is a good place to start

Tape drive complaining "clean me and retry again"

it sounds like the drive inside the autoloader needs replaced or repaired. The please clean me usually means that the drive cannot read or write data to the tape. It will be able to rewind and go forward without reading or writing. Hope this helps

    L20 underwriting problem

it sounds more likely to be the way you have your jobs set up in legato. Is the media set to overwrite the data or append. you could be just adding data to the tape all this time, and not realising you weren't overwriting the old data until the tape became full.

    L180 Library w/ LTO2 Drives - Cleaning Frequency?

John my advice would be to enable autoclean. None of the manufacturers of LTO really give an indication of how often to clean the drive, They advise to clean when the drive requests to be cleaned. Cleaning tapes are abrasive and wear head life so I would clean as little as is necessary.

    LTO 2 drives for a Quantum P4000

The dell drives are so cheap because they won't work in the library. You need to have drives which are Library Ready. You will be able to get drives which don't come from quantum but will work at a lower cost than £8000. Not allowed to promote companies on here, so if you have an email, I can...

    LTO 2 drives for a Quantum P4000

you have possibly been getting quotes for different makes of LTO2, i.e. a 2nd user hp lto2 will be a lot cheaper than a new IBM lto2. It is a very difficult task to price like for like, as there are so many people who sell tape drives. It all depends what quality you want and at what price you...
