    Internet browsing blocked at firewall

Yep! in the right spots. I finally fixed it, buy adding a second switch to the mix. One for the LAN and a dedicated one for the WAN side (between the switch and the router).

    Internet browsing blocked at firewall

Hi: I have just set up an old SOHO 2 to utilize a new T1/Phone line. The SOHO is set up to supply DHCP and uses static IP address. The T1 works fine if I supply the PC with a public IP address. I can not browse the internet from a PC on the LAN side, but I CAN ping & Tracert web sites on the...

    Two similar reverse lookup zones

I am working with an SBS 2003R2 server. The DNS shows 2 Reverse Lookup zones. 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.0.0 We are all on the 192.168.0.0 subnet with the .1.0 range for servers,.2.0 for VPN users, .3.0 for DHCP, etc. All the Servers are listed in the 192.16.1.0 zone only the Start of Authority and...

    DNS settings for internal Applicane

Sorry I wasn't clear. DNS is set up and running (but looks a little weird). The Appliance is an email archive system, and is built on Linux (I think) so it does not register with Microsofts DNS. I have the IP address 192.16.10.100 and entering that in to a Web Browser will allow me to access the...

Hi all: I have an internal appliance that stores old emails. All the users can get to it via IE and the IP address. I have several users who can not seem to remember the IP address. How do I set up DNS to let them use a simple name? Server SBS 2003 R2 Desktops XP Pro SP3 Thanks

Filter emails so they don't get Journaled

Hi all: I have set up my SBS 2003R2 machine with a Journaling account. This account is accessed by an Archiving package that copies it all and clears out the Journaling account. I would like to know how to filter what the Journaling account gets in the first place. I don't want to Archive...

Number Spacing issue when copying form Excel to Word

kvj1161: Not possible as a lot of this work is done offsite and emaild to her, and some of the origional Excel files are only temporarly accessed by the accounts. SkipVought: I am not sure what other information you need, but I will try to see if the information is copied from several cells at...

Number Spacing issue when copying form Excel to Word

Hi all: I am trying to resolve a weird (some times intermittent) issue with Word Tables. The lady, who creates a series of reports here, uses the rough draft that is prepared by the accountants. The accounts copy and paste the numbers from Excel spread sheets. What is going wrong is that the...

    Flat Panel powers off

Hi all: I am working with two different desktop LCD monitors. A Plextor PX2411W and a NEC LCD2470WNX. Both are using DVI and both PCs are XP Pro (one is SP2 and the other is SP3). Both use Nvida GPU (one is a built in chip the other is a Dual EVGA 9800GTX+ in SLI). The problem is related to the...

Do you have recent experience with Dell?

We were Dell for Laptops and Desktops from 2002 to 2008. It was a nightmare!!!!! We bought 15 Desktops and 20 laptops. 2 were DOA and took a week to get parts to fix them. In the first year we had 13 service calls for Motherboards, Monitors, Hard Drives and Power supplies. That's a 37% failure...

    Motherboard Test Software ???

Can you get to the BIOS? If not you are out of luck. Even if you install a new Graphics card usually you have to shut off the onboard graphics in the BIOS. IF the board uses jumpers to choose the Graphics source then you can go wiht an add on card. Is the speaker turned on? Let the computer boot...

Hi all: I have an HP 2133 that I use when out of the office or traveling. The Bosses saw it and said "I want". I explained it had NO DVD drive and they all went "No Want". Now I have to find a Small (mini, sub, etc.) Notebook with a DVD player. They want to buy 2 or 3 and want to have them with...

    OWA Reminder settings

I have also read that. We are debating between taking an image and going virtual with it on a different machine, just long enough to complete the move or getting new hardware and moving to that. I was at some meeting and an SBS expert said that it was a one way trip, the old SBS 2003 box would...
