    Working with Date fields

Thanks for the replies, they have both been very useful. The grouping within pivot tables was useful but unfortunately the quarters don't match what I need. For example my Q1 is (JUN, JUL, AUG) and not (JAN, FEB, MAR). I've been trying to get your SELECT code to work but it won't allow me to...

    Working with Date fields

One final point. I require the 3 letter abbreviation Month column to be text and not date. This way I can group records in a pivot table. Currently the pivot table only groups the records if the date is the same. ie. 17th Jan and not if the 3 letter Month is the same. Thanks, Richard.

    Working with Date fields

Tony, I understand that I could do the "MMM" formatting using format cells but I didn't know it was possible to do the "FY04 Q2" etc. The reason I want to place this information in a macro is that I have to open these files quite often and insert these new rows, it would just be easier to open...

    Working with Date fields

Thanks for the quick reply, I will give it a go straight after lunch. Here is a copy of the loop which I have decided to use, it checks to see if column a = column a on the row above and if column b = column b on the row above. If they do then it enters "Duplicate" in column D, on the row which...

    Working with Date fields

Hi, I'm currently using a loop to cycle through my 20,000 records and perform a few checks (eg, find duplicates). While i'm going through this loop I'd also like to populate two columns for the row i'm looking at. For example, I want to turn: Column A Column B Column...

Running Excel Macros on a Palm?

Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to run Excel Macros on a Palm device? I am able to open Excel files using a program called "Documents To Go". Many thanks, Richard.

Need For Speed - Something Faster Than VLookup

Hi, Is there anyway to modify Zathras's code to use cells in a seperate worksheet rather than a fixed array of values? For example I have a worksheet called "Values" with a list of email address stored in A1:A100, and a worksheet called "Results" where my data is stored. I...

    Help Required: EXCEL Macros (if..then & for..loop)

Hi Guys, Thanks for all of your help. I have managed to fix my problem using the solution from chandlm, but have learnt a lot from each response. I just had to add extra conditions to include checks on each column between A & R, and then to highlight the dup row and insert "Dup" into...

    Help Required: EXCEL Macros (if..then & for..loop)

Hi Bowers74, If you can please see the below table for results that I am trying to achieve. You may have to save the information in a .html file and open within a browser. It's quite difficult to explain but I would like to check 1 by 1 each row against the one below it. If every cell in this...

    Help Required: EXCEL Macros (if..then & for..loop)

Sorry, I forgot to write I require something similar to Dyarwoods reply but without actually specifying the cell name. eg. B1 / B2. Mainly because I have 12,000+ records. Thanks, Stitch.

    Help Required: EXCEL Macros (if..then & for..loop)

Thanks guys for the very quick help. Bowsers74 - I've managed to test your information and it seems to be working great and very close to what I need. However, I would like the loop to check every cell in the row against the cell directly below before changing the colour. At the moment it just...

    Help Required: EXCEL Macros (if..then & for..loop)

Hi, I am currently trying to find duplicate records in a single worksheet that has over 12,000 records. I have sorted the data so that the duplicates should appear on the next line down. I would like to, if possible, create a macro to cycle through the records line by line and compare the two...
