Yes you if you store is 50 GIG you need 50 GIg of local NTFS volume on the Backup Exec media server. That is outlined in the admin guide. Drives are cheap add another one to the server.
Im assuming you mean you have remote sites over Internet or want that all have copies of Backup Exec. You would like the backups (backup to disk) to be centralized at home office?

If you are getting an alert "Tape Alert" then thats the hardware telling BE that the drive needs to be cleaned. Tape Alerts are generated by hardware and relayed to Backup Exec
