Thanks for the reply Mark.
I have a 5 OU's set up on the server names Entry2000, Entry2001, Entry 2002 etc.... (Work in a school). Have one GPO set up called pupil, which is applied to all the OU's.
Settings in the GPO are very minimal, ie disble control panel etc...
Having spent most of the...
This is driving me insane. I have set up a Windows 2003 Server from scratch which acts as Domain controller, DNS and a print server.
A user can log on okay, but the GPO doesn't appear to be coming through to the clients. I have only set a few options within the GPO, one of them is supposed to...
Hope someone can help.
We have 3 Windows 2000 Servers, one is a domain controller, one is the DNS server, and the third is a member server. All have been updated with Service Pack 4. The problem we are having is with the member server. Every minute the event viewer display the following error...
I know this is about Microsoft Access, but I think the problem is Server related... We are running approximately 300 stations (Mix of Xp and W2K), connected to a Windows 2000 Server.
The problem is that access databases, used by pupils are losing data when open... Tables go missing, and now and...
We are running windows 2000 server with mostly w2k workstations attached to the domain. However, since adding new XP workstations, drive connections to the server have been dropping off, thus work is being lost, specifically Open Microsoft Access databases. Is there a reason why the server and...
When an XP Pro user logs off our 2000 server network domain, it tries to synchronize files causing all sorts of errors. Microsoft states that this can be switched off using a group policy. I've set the group policy to stop synchronizing, but to no avail. The XP workstation still tries to...
We are running Windows 2000 server with approx 350 workstations attached... Most of them are running Windows 2000, however the newer models are running XP Pro... (Approx 80 of them)... The XP machines continually lose connection to the server, not all at the same time, just randomly... Logging...
Thanks lander. I have a GPO called 'pupil', which is assigned to 5 different OU's (5 different pupil yeargroups). I have a separate OU for the staff. If I drop the workstations into one of the pupil OU's, what effect would that have when staff log on?
Or would it be better to create a new OU...
Thanks for the answer lander. I checked the area you suggested in the Policy, and discovered that the 'disable lock workstation' feature has already been enabled! Must have been set by the previous sys admin. So, the next question is, any idea why the workstations can still be locked?? (Hair...
I get your point, but the w/s are pretty well tied down. The users are 12 to 16 year olds in a school, and the teachers want the 'lock workstation' feature disabling, as the kids find it a great joke at the end of every lesson, to lock the stations... The next class either have to call us over...
We are currently running Windows 2000 and XP w/s on windows 2000 servers.
What would be the best way to stop users locking the workstation using the familiar Ctrl/alt/del.?
I read an article which told you how to use registry editor to disable the feature, does this mean I would have to go to...
We have 2 servers, a DC and a member server. Just recently, the member server is producing the same event error every second or so, until the log is full. The error message is as follows :
------------------
DCOM got error "Class not registered" from the computer holygrail when...
Thanks for the reply Jayweb.
Someone told me it's easier to stay in Per Server, but this surely must be more expensive. All 250 PC's access the DC at some point, I presume the same number of CAL's would be needed for the DNS server, and the third server, a member server, has CDROMS and Intranet...
I know I've asked this before, but thought I'd give it another go as I didn't get any response. So please forgive me in advance :)
We now have 3 servers and it would be more cost effective to change from per server to per seat licensing.
Problem is, when I go into licensing and click on 'per...
