I am looking at a system proposed by a client.
This will be from windows (C++/.net/PL/SQL) undecided as yet to a suite of cobol sitting on Unix.
They are asking about whether the call should be a web service or tcpip, this is where i am a little lost as we tend to use the Unix environments...

I am wanting to use chown to change the owner of the files / folder in my id to the group I am in, so others in teh group can access them and make changes.
what variation of chown do I use ?

tried it on a set up without the router and it worked fine.
I couldn't see anything on the PC that would stop the internet traffic, nothing on the router either (even gave it a fixed IP on the router)
No idea what caused this, but its gone away now.

the PC itself has an onboard LAN and there was also a card with it.
I was using the PCI lan as I had the driver and tried it as soon as I had XP installed, prior to ANYTHING else being installed.
Previously I tried using the onboard LAN but got the same results.

yes I did, still the same, I try and go on the internet and it transfers in bytes per sceond, not the 400K + i get from the same network point on a different PC.
One thing that is also odd is that if I look at the network connection it shows as firewalled, yet on my PC upstairs, it doesn't.

Fresh install of XP, hoo up to my network using homeplugs, internet not a problem.

I have just installed XP on a PC, it gets a proper IP address, I was getting 169.254.n.n yesterday, but now I get a 19.168.0.n
I can see the other PC...
Got a problem with a NEC Versa E400 laptop.
All runs well until the unit has been on a while then the 'A' key doesn't work. All other keys are fine.
I am wondering if it is anything to do with the CPU underneath the key ... wondering if the heat has anything to do with it.
