I have had this problem too, in Win 98, ME and XP. NO rhyme or reason, but a reoobt cures the problem. I know that is a bandaid fix but I have no other cure right now. SG

I have had this problem when reinstalling XP, when it gets to the Booting from ATAPI CD ROM, you have about 2 seconds to hit any key to continue, once you see the failure, then you have to shut off the puter and restart. See if that helps. SG

I too had this problem and it turned out to be a simple incapatability issue with the keyboard. Just a thought but worth a try. SG
