    Server at OK prompt

Check the video feeds in the server room for a clumsy or disgruntled technician. It's not always a server issue, it may be a human issue.

How to remove StarOffice 7 from Solaris 10

I did an install of Solaris 10 using "Entire Disribution plus OEM" feature set. This installed StarOffice 7 and I need to remove this software. How can this be done? Can it be done from the command line?

    AIX Maintenance Levels

I have CDs for AIX 5L V5.2 dated 05/2004 and 11/2004. How can I tell what Maintenance Level is on these CDs? I also have an AIX 5L V5.3 CD set dates 2/2005. Is this 5.2 ML1? Does IBM have a web page which lists the ML version of the CDs? Thanks Bruce

Is there no RSC or ALOM on SunFire V490?

Is it true there is no RSC or ALOM port available on the SunFire V490? If anyone is using a V490, how do you access the console? Preferably, I'd like network access to the console through an RSC/SC/ALOM/Network Management port. Thanks

Configure serial connection from H50 running 4.3.3

I need to run a serial connection from an H50 running 4.3.3 to a SunFire v100. The H50 has 3 serial ports on the back but I'm not sure of the command to use to connect to the SunFire v100. On a Sun server I would use the "tip" command. What is the equivalent command on AIX? Any tips for...

Sendmail daemon running on AIX 5.2

I have two questions. 1) Does the sendmail daemon need to be running in order to send email out from the server? For security reasons, I do not want the daemon running or listening on port 25. 2) If the daemon needs to be running to send email, is there a way to disable it from responding to...

    Sendmail version on AIX 5.2

Thanks. Since this file can be modified I was hoping there would be someway to query the binary such as 'sendmail -version' or through 'lslpp'.

    cron job nor running

I think the cron entry is incorrect. If you are using: 05 11 * * 0-5 . test_cron.urs You need to remove the "." and give the full path to the executable: 05 11 * * 0-5 /<path_to_executable>/test_cron.urs

    Sendmail version on AIX 5.2

How can I identify the version of /usr/lib/sendmail installed with AIX 5.2? The AIX 5.2 Differences Guide states that since AIX 5.1.0, version 8.11 of sendmail is used. But how can I verify this and get an exact version?

    Firmware version

How can I check the firmware version of an AIX server? I know that I can run 'lscfg -vp | grep -p Platform', but this doesn't work on all of my platforms or AIX versions.
