    Questions from Exchange newbie

Oops. Didn't proof my own post. The first reply ("If your users are unable to connect to the pst server, they should be able to connect to the email server.") should say, "If your users are ABLE to connect to the server containing the PSTs, they'll also be able to connect to the Exchange server...

    Questions from Exchange newbie

We are currently using Ipswitch Imail with Outlook. We keep the .pst files on a single server for easy backup-- This is not generally considered a good thing to do. The purpose of PSTs is so mail will be available in case of network connectivity problems. If your users are unable to connect to...

    How do you like iMAIL?

Where are you guys finding support? Is there another Imail support forum that receives more answers than Tek-tips? I see a bunch of questions, but few answers here.

    unknown local admin password

Thanks for the responses. The laptop, which is about five years old, was sent to me pretty much to confirm that it was on its last legs. I've tried to do a clean install, but the CD drive isn't being recognized. I think it's time to cut my losses and hit up the bean counters for a new machine.

    unknown local admin password

Maching was shipped here from a remote user. I cannot get the machine to log on to the domain (all other machines are fine). NT DC says it cannot establish a trust relationship to add computer to domain (I removed it to try to re-add). I cannot log on locally because the user doesn't remember...

    Inherited PIX506 config. Mucho questions

Looks like 1) and 2) were entered for possible future need. 5) My bad. It's my second day on the job and I haven't mapped out the network yet. The documentation consists of a chart of the internal IP addresses. x.x.x.20-50 are reserved for servers, and 100-254 are for DHCP assignments for the...

    Inherited PIX506 config. Mucho questions

I haven't administered a PIX for over a year, and am pretty rusty. I just changed companies and inherited this config from "some certified Cisco guy". I've inserted questions thoughout, for anyone who feels like tackling them. : PIX Version 6.3(1) interface ethernet0 auto interface ethernet1...

How to find out if my backplane is hot-swappable?

Thanks. There is no RAID configured (just six disks that they use as the target for the backups--a different one each day) so even if it was the four-channel card it would do no good. I'll contact promise, but you've saved me from getting dusty. Thanks again

How to find out if my backplane is hot-swappable?

Sorry, this isn't a Dell-specific question, but the server is home-built and I didn't know where else to post this. I just joined a company that uses all home-grown servers. They're using one as a backup server (Win2K Server), with six SCSI HDDs in it. They want to remove one each day or so...

    variable-length Min/Max functions in Excel?

Skip Thanks for the reply. I couldn't get it to work with the count function, and using C1 in the offset was returning an error. But with a little tweaking I finally got the offset working. I ended up nesting an offset within the offset to reference the correct cell...

    variable-length Min/Max functions in Excel?

I have a worksheet with about 8000 rosws of data, and I want to find the Min and Max values for a few columns. The problem is I'd like to be able to change how far back it looks without changing the formula manually every time. For example, if the cells in column D get the Max of the last 25...

    Static NATs kill Internet

I cleared the arp cache on the Internet router and that solved the problem of machines not being able to connect when the NAT is deleted. I also found that I could ping the public address I was trying to assign, although it doesnt show up anywhere in any configs or documentation (we had...

    Static NATs kill Internet

I've done many static NATs on my company's PIX 515 5.3(1). Starting this past Friday, creating a new static NAT prevents the NATed maching from connecting to the Internet. It resolves the IP address, says "connecting to [WWW IP], then gives me a page cannot be displayed error. If I remove...

    WinXP pro local admin password

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. It is a laptop that the guy takes home with him at night, so any *initial* steps I take must be done quickly. I think I'll try ghosting his drive up to the network during lunch (with a ghost boot disk) to get the sam/adminpw. Then I'll take it from there...
