    Migrating from 4js to Genero

This is a leap. We have 100's of 4js programs to migrate to Genero. Can anyone recommend a "quick read" to solve some problems we have encountered?

rcp changed after we upgraded to AIX 5.1

When we were using AIX 4.3, we were able to rcp files to our backup server using "rcp -pr" and the files would retain their ownership and group permissions. Now ALL rcp'd files belong to root. Good news...the rcp works. Bad news...the spooled files listing is very confusing. Any suggestions...

    kproc

We have 2 entries. The big one is at the top. Is this a process that should be killed or left alone. root 516 71.4 1.0 8 5972 - A Jan 30 5051:23 kproc root 774 0.4 1.0 12 5972 - A Jan 30 31:51 kproc I see now that all the root processes are dated Jan 30.

    kproc

When running ps aux, this process seems to always head the list. What is kproc? It is still growing with an old date stamp, in spite of the fact that I rebooted the server last weekend. Thanks!

    AIX 5 Training--necessary??

We are purchasing a new server. Our old rs6000 ran on AIX 4.3. The new one uses AIX 5.0. Our company will pay for a training session to bring us up to speed on the new OS. If anyone could recommend a class that would cover the greatest procedural differences in moving to this new AIX...

I should have indicated that I am using 4gl, and would like to enter a command from that point.

Our server succeeded on all the test that you suggested. It just fails when I try to use sendmail. Thanks for trying to help.

We have provided the IP addresses of our primary server (where sendmail IS working) and our backup server(where it is NOT working) to our network administrator. He has access to our district's mail server and to the state dept of education's server. Our mail system works via the state's. He...
