Hi,
We have a lot of old Power Edge servers with 2 GB system partitions so most of them have 600 mb free or less.
I would really like to avoid wiping them clean to upgrade to 2003. I don't want to have to re-do all the shares and application installs, etc...
Any way to avoid this or did...
We recently installed squid on a Red Hat 8.0 server. We have Windows 2000 clients connecting to the internet through it.
The problem is if someone opens up a command prompt and tries to ftp somewhere I get a Host Unreachable error. I can FTP through Internet Explorer just fine. I have read...
I just figured it out.
access-list acl-out permit tcp any object-group PCAnywhere object-group PCAnywhere-ports
Reading Cisco syntax as a newbie is painful.
I have the following in my config:
name 63.x.x.x MGADMIN
object-group network PCAnywhere
network-object host MGADMIN
object-group service PCAnywhere-ports tcp-udp
port-object eq pcanywhere-data
port-object eq 5632
port-object eq 5633
port-object eq 5634
port-object eq 1645...
As I am figuring out what is in my config I see there is a "conduit permit ip any any" statement. This is probably what the issue is. We have about 54 static entries for public Ip's to internal. I am going to figure out all the ports for everything that is need and then plan on...
It is still trying to authenticate over the internet. These are Windows NT 4 Servers. I see the following in my log:
2003-01-07 06:37:52 Local4.Info 10.1.3.3 %PIX-6-302013: Built inbound TCP connection 8822761 for outside:209.86.206.206 (Unresolved) /1300 (209.86.206.206 (Unresolved) /1300)...
I have added the following to my conf:
access-list inside deny udp any any eq 137
access-list outside deny tcp any any eq 137
access-list inside deny tcp any any eq 138
access-list outside deny udp any any eq 138
access-list inside deny tcp any any eq 139

Hackers have been trying to break into my network. I need to know what port to block so they can't try to authenticate over the internet. For example if I try to connect to any public NT Server's admin share such as //10.1.1.1/C$ it will ask for credentials. Since we lock accounts after 3...
Marverick,
You are correct! My overwrite options were set to grab whatever tapes it needed. Since I always keep media set 1 in one drive and media set 2 in another I have never had the problem. This was the first time I added a tape from a different media set at the same time. I was a...
I have two jobs I run every day. One job backs up half of my servers on Media set: Media Set1. The other job backs up the other half of my servers on Media Set2. I recently put a new tape in the 7 tape library for archiving. I put the tape in its own media set called Archive. I noticed...
My network consists of 70 users, 7 mobile users, 40 Servers, 2 data T1's. I need VPN and a firewall solution. I was thinking about getting the PIX 506. Someone I know who has worked with them claims they will slow with a low throughput. Anyone with experience on this PIX have an opinion...
Thanks for the reply. It is going to be a FTP server for our customers. We will be running a VB app that moves the customers data to the correct directory. It will also have an odbc connector and .mdb file. Access will not be on the server.
We want a NAS server because you get so much...
I have had problems with my IS becoming corrupt. The last time it happened it was due to need to run the hotfix for RPC post sp4. I know of other admins who have never had a crash since originally installing Exchange 4.0 and upgrading through 5.5 after 4 years. So like anything else in life...
My company is considering buying one of these. I understand due to certain licensing restrictions for this server you are not supposed to install Exchange, Sql, DHCP, DNS, etc... I am wondering is the Windows 2000 OS that ships altered in any way? Or is it just kind of a licensing agreement...
I am going to meet with a company that installs CCM next week. We are going to either get a Lucent or CCM. I don't know much about the call manager. I definitely don't want to buy a lemon for our company like our current phone system. Any feedback or info about this phone system.
