    Veritas Netbackup 6.0

    You can delete any .VSP file you find on any server, they are just snapshots. Get rid of them permanently by opening host properties on the master server, adding the server to the masters client list and make sure you uncheck the box for Windows VSS services.

    Get rid of all "weird" software on the XP machines, like Power Toys, firewall s/w, most active X installs, etc. NetBackup was really not designed to backup workstations so you have to make the environment CLEAN and PRISTINE to avoid status code 13's. Also check your TCP/IP stack.

    Get your boss to send you to the Veritas NetBAckup 6.x Troubleshooting Techniques for Windows class. If possible, go to Denver and schedule it with an instructor named Todd Thielen. He was great! The "fog" just lifted when I went.

    Do you have the ENTERPRISE license that allows you to setup your media server as SAN media server? It will never write straight to tape if you don't have the correct licenses. Also if you have virtual drives attached, you MUST setup virtual storage units using the BPEMMCMD.
