Alright, I just ran chkdsk and it won't continue says "The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems" and I also ran some other things that came with the Windows XP Pro CD, and said the volume was damage and the file system was corrupted, would that mean a dead HD...
I have Home on an AMD Duron board, 1.3 GHz, 256 MB SD RAM, and home was running fine for about 3 days, then one day we went to restart and after "Searching for boot record from IDE-0..OK" nothing happend, just blinking underscore. I took note the CPU temperature was 129 degrees...
Alright, I tried that, and the computer still can't read from the CD, or from the floppy drive - but when I before and during installation they both had no problem. When the computer freezes the HDD led doesn't go off until restart... no one's heard of this?
Everytime I put in a disc (this is a clean install of XP) it can't read more than 3 or 4 MBs from the disc and it locks up the computer. The mouse won't move, and you have to manually turn it off. It's an AMD Duron (grr) 1.3 board w/256 MB SD RAM. o_O any suggestions for meh?
THANKS for reading...
good or bad? A lot of people have told me that it "took over their computer" and crahsed it running XP. I've had it for awhile, and it's fine.. So what's up with this program? What's it do? Should I uninstall it and just use it off the CD?
I've bought all my software, I've made copies of them for me, I'm not sure if that's illegal or not, I guess downloading an image is, but hey - it's my key.
Wow that's alot of stuff that I have no idea what it is.. lol. I'm DLing another ISO Image of Pro. I'm going to try that... I had copies of it, and neither were very good. Some installations I would have to alternate discs to get all the files needed by setup - pain in the arse. Does the RAM...
Nope, wasn't the ram... it worked fine before format. I actually got Home to Install, it went into windows... and I choose the option to Restart, and it never booted up again.. So I'm back where I started. Needing to install XP PRO. Thanks.
My system won't get past the boot splash screen when the mouse is connected through the usb port, but when connect through ps/2 port, it's fine... Should I update my bios to get the "usb" connection for my mouse to work??
Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you guys that when I turned it off and turned it back on I get "Error loading operating system"... It's an AMD board, 1300MHz, 256 MB RAM... I hate this computer... HELP! Please! lol
