Thanks WYokeCheng that did it for me. I searched for pg32conv.dll and found it in a folder OTHER THAN System32 folder, copied it to the system32 folder, registered it with regserv and it worked.
Hope this may help others.[thumbsup]

OK, did some further research and found the following. On a windows NT4 machine ( which I have ) the following is needed. Comcat.dll version 4.71 works with Ole32.dll version 4.0. For Windows XP Comcat.dll 5.0 is needed if your version of Ole32.dll is 4.71.

Hey, check out carr's response in thread608-449081 thread. There is a great link on how to modify anything in the registry. I'm sure you'll find something useful there if my suggestion above did not work.
Good Luck....skimmers [thumbsup2]
Just something to check. Go to tools/internet options and click on the Programs tab. Check to see what is in your HTML Editor field. If nothing, then that may be your problem. Click the down arrow and see if at least Notepad is there and check that.
Hope this helps....skimmers [thumbsup2]
Don't know if this helps, but I had a similar problem, however mine was related to Active X controls in VB6 too. I had a mismatch with a file called Comcat.dll. Do a search on Comcat.dll and see what comes up. I had 2 versions, 5.0 and 4.71. Somehow 5.0 got installed and I needed 4.71.
First I...
Just an FYI. I am now on my old home computer that has IE5 SP1 and it seems to confirm what balls has found out, the Enalble third Party...etc. is only availalble on ie6.
Thanks, skimmers
I noticed that no one has yet responded to your question yet so maybe I can start things going. I have my browser also set to blank on a LAN setting, because when at home I do not want my browser searching for our intranet home page with an error message. However, when at work or at home I go up...
Maybe I can get this thread going. I have seen this problem in various newsgroups and it seems the common ground is that in installing/un-installing, sometimes the install does not write "everything" to the registry.
In searching my registry I found the Key for what you are missing...
Have you tried Start/Control Panel/Add_Remove Programs/Internet Explorer 6.0 and then choose the repair option? If so then I came across this response while searching Microsofts groups, maybe it can help......

I noticed you said that you updated the graphics driver. I did this on a Windows ME machine PIII 800mhz and also SP1. My machine did not lock up, but everything flickered while scrolling. I needed to upgrade DirectX from 7.0 to 8.1, 8.1 is the highest the Intel 8210e would support. You may want...
I'm not sure if the version on this site is SP2 but it does have a download for ie4.01. The URL is
http://itsweb.hartford.edu/download_depot/download_depot-w95nt.html
I used this the other day for 5.5 and the original ie6.
Hope this helps, Kim
Fixed my problem. It seems I needed to upgrade my DirectX to 8.1, I had 7.0. After upgrading all the flickering went away. I don't know if this problem was just related to my machine, but 7.0 seemed to work fine in plain old IE6 and if DirectX 8.1 is need with IE6 SP1 Microsoft should mention...
