Check the CPU's temperature either in BIOS, or with a monitoring utility(Motherboard Monitor is a freebie). If it exceeds 65 C when the system is performing applications, then remove the CPU, clean off the thermal compound from it and its heatsink, apply new compound, and reinstall.

Did you try installing the scanner using the Windows "Add Hardware" utility, and pointing to the INF folder when prompted for the location of the driver?
Run DirectX on the other PC's to determine which video cards/adapters they're using, eliminate their driver CD's, and the last remaining driver CD should be the one you need.
Start in Safe mode, remove the video card from Device Manager, uninstall the video card drivers from Add/Remove Programs, restart normally, and reinstall the drivers. If no luck, then try different drivers.
Make sure that the CPU's fan runs when the system is started. If it does not, then a CPU fan failure option in BIOS may be shutting down the system to prevent the CPU from overheating, and getting damaged.
