For certification the best you can do is to understand how the products really work and to use them.
When you purchase the software there are books on each of the CDs, User Guides and the like.
This is the basic how the product works.
Then you'll learn a lot from trying things out and breaking...
For reporting tools in Tivoli you are probably looking at the Tivoli Decision Support product.
That can take data from TEC, so it would be sensible to have Netview send to TEC, then TDS take data from TEC.
Hope that helps,
Simon
If you call...
<path>/myscript.sh < /tmp/myinput
then this will read input...
alternatively if they both run at once you could create a pipe from one to the other...
<path>/myfirstscript | <path>/myusingscript.sh
The ideal is that you will know how the software really works. Unfortunately (depending on your standing) these exams do rely on actually knowing the products. But the result is that you will have some good credibility once you pass them.
Other sites have tried to create brain-dumps (with no...
You can see if it "is connected".
A wep <epname> status will show this, also I think wgateway describe will show all gateways and eps currently talking to them.
There has been lots of talk about this before, and the answer is that with this you do need to use the product, read the User Guides, and Redbooks. Sorry, but there is no easy way with this.
Be warned that some of the Sample tests on the Tivoli site have "dodgy" answers.
One tip for...
There were issues in the past with endpoints losing their connection.
It can be many different things.
If the gateway that the endpoint is associated with goes down then the endpoint is "orphaned" for a time. It will not try to come back into the TMR until a pre-configured time (entry...
I'd recommend that you don't just patch to the highest level, but you check the README for each patch and make a conscious decision over whether you need that patch or not.
Tivoli don't supply a "super-patch", so it is a matter of collecting each one that you want to apply and then...
The prep machine is needed to capture what is needed in the Software Distribution configuration. Its like a customer supplying you with an InstallShield response script. They have already used a prep machine to get that for you. In this case the software distribution definitions are not...
Hi all,
I am mainly a user of Tivoli products, and Tivoli have announced that their ServiceDesk suite is to be sold to Peregrine.
Does anyone have any information on Peregrines intentions with the products? How about their support for Tivoli customers?
The ServiceDesk suite is now a good and...
Yes, a speciality of DM. If you don't have a "merging" Profile Manager in between then the target will overwrite each version.
Easiest solution is to create a Profile Manager with the hardware subscribers, then use this as subscribers to the DM profile definition PM level.
Hope this...
There is often a log file created on the machine itself containing the last X number of values. Can't remember the exact location of it, but you'll find an info file in the same directory.
Its something like $DBDIR/.sntcfg/<large number> but do a bit of searching around as this may not be...
There are also a number of books on Extreme Programming.
I'm interested in peoples views on this. When I had a quick flip through the principles, a lot of the "rules" can be seen to derive from a mixture of other methods.
So, my personal view is that this stuff is definitely worth a...
If the Endpoint was logged in then you have a file lcf.dat that is created. If this file is present then this information is used ahead of the .login file.
I'd try deleting that file, editing the text file (or use the Web interface) and try again.
This is quite drastic action to need to take. There are a lot of cases where it is the quickest way of getting up and running.
There were a lot of issues with early 3.6.x versions with the gateway. These seem to have got better recently in my experience. If you keep seeing them then it may be...
