Hi -
I purchased a DFI NFII ultra motherboard several months back, and I've been having problems with the built in ethernet ports. Initially, one of them worked, and the other one could pull an IP address and all relevant info from a DHCP server, however any attempt at communications (ping...
Hi -
I currently have an Athlon 2100 on a DFI Lan party NFII Ultra MB. I recently got an ATI 9600XT video card, and the latest drivers said W2K SP4 was required. SO I installed SP4, and started having problems.
I narrowed it down to these symptoms: The motherboard requires the installation...
Problem solved. Tried reinstalling the tcp/ip stack in windows - no luck. Put in an ethernet card, configured it and it works fine. SO the problem must be in the onboard NIC I was using, as opposed to a windows tcp/ip issue.
I tried the winsockfix.zip utility, but that didn't help any. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I noticed something else in troubleshooting - if I go to another machine and ping the problem machine, I dont get a response but when I run arp -a, it shows the IP and correct MAC address for the...
Hi -
SO I just replaced my motherboard because my old one bit the dust... I replaced an Epox 8rda+ with a DFI NFII ultra. Both boards use the same nforce2 chipset, so loading windows was no problem (no inaccessible boot device BSOD). However, I can't seem to get the NIC adapter to respond...
problem fixed. I tried flashing the BIOS with a bootable CD, but that didn't work. I went out to Microcenter and got another motherboard with the same nforce2 chipset (different manufacturer), plugged it in and boots like a charm.
late update:
I bought an SMC wireless router, plugged it in and it works like a charm.
Guess the Belkin routers are POS's. From now on, I use them only for cabling needs :)
Hi -
Several months ago I purchased an Epox 8rda+ motherboard that I have been using with my Athlon XP 2100+ CPU. After a very rough start, I finally got everything going good - at least for a while.
Today I went to reboot the machine, and upon reboot, it came up and said "floppy...
Ok - so here's an update:
I've tried the router/card at my girlfriends apartment, and really had no better luck. It just appears as though communications die going through a wall. I did this mostly to see if possibly my wall was too thick or there was some obstruction in it.
So I borrowed a...
I'm writing this to see if anyone else out there has any advice or tips to offer. It seems as though my wireless setup is not very stable and the range is pretty poor.
Yesterday I purchased a Belkin Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router (Model #F5D6231-4, 802.11b) and an SMC Wireless adapter...

I know, the first thing some people are going to say is "well if you would shutdown windows properly, then you wouldn't have that problem!" :)
But the reality is that a proper windows shutdown can't happen everytime. The problem I have is this: I have my OS installed on the C...

I'm battling a similar problem. Previously had Exchange installed w/sp3 and W2K with sp3. No problems. Then I installed SQL with sp3 and now my machine takes 15 minutes to shut down. When it reboots, I see all kinds of exchange error messages on the event log. If I shutdown exchange prior...
Well I think I finally figured it out.
I moved the RAID controller and one Maxtor drive to the Abit KT7 mobo, and reinstalled with it as a single drive RIAD 0. It failed on boot looking for ks.sys
I then swapped the 128 MB SDRAM DIMM on the RAID controller with a 64 MB DIMM. When I booted...
