I have a maintenance plan that rebuilds the indexes of a database, this plan runs once a week. It sometimes can take up to 45 hours to complete! I do have processes that are running and reading data from the database during the rebuilding - can this cause a problem?
I am running approximately 140 applications on a server with 4 CPU's and 2GB
of memory in a prodcution environment.
The processes are started via DCOM in a seperate user account, thus creating
a new winstation in which to run. (This allows the processes to continue
to run when there is no-one...
Can anyone recommend any monitoring applications for SQL server 7 running on NT. We have currently tried trial versions of Iwatch and Spotlight but want to do some comparisons before we buy. I would be grateful for any advice.
