    oooops! I retraced my steps and found the IDE cable to the floppy drive was not fully seated. I feel dumb - forget last post. PC appears to be fully operational. Until ? Thanks to all who replied. My daughter will be happy. Bill

    Well I replaced the MOBO. Computer is now starting and shutting down like it should. But now I have an issue with the floppy drive. It will not read from the floppy, it keeps asking me to format the floppy and then says the floppy cannot be formatted. Any ideas.

    Roger Thank you for the reply. The unit is now shutting itself off without notice or reason. My daughter said it would do this every now and then with the previous substitute PSU. There appears to be a conflict between the HD and CD/DVD ROM. I have yet to witness the event but the screen goes...
