Prevent IP based on AD Username

Thank you all for your posts. Some very good ideas here but all seem to run into the same problems that we have encountered. The solutions seem to be network based at a system level which will not fix the problem. If my first post was too vague I apologise - I will attempt to explain the...

Prevent IP based on AD Username

We have recently moved a customer to a Citrix solution using one farm and many Citrix XenApp servers. Before the move it was possible to prevent access to some users based on their source IP address. This was achieved reserving IP's on DHCP and enforcing ACL's on the Cisco switch Vlans. After...

DNS problems installing second DNS server.

We have a functioning DNS server running (integrated AD) on our AD environment. When we add an additional DNS server on another DC. Although AD is replicating fine and all other all other AD functionalities appear to be normal, it believes it is the first DNS server in the domain and asks...

    Flicking screen terminal session

When I log on to w2k terminal server (application mode) and run program the graphics on some of the pages begin to flicker. Because of the setup of the server I cannot change the refresh frequency of the monitor which is set at 85 hz (don't know if this is problem though). When I log on to...

Proxy settings problem through Group Policy

I had enabled proxy settings through group policy for all users to use a particular proxy server. Users needed to change their own proxy settings and leave the setting like that (I won't go into reasons for this for purpose of this problem). I removed the tick in the 'enable proxy settings' tick...

    Enable Remote Desktop by GPO

I'm afraid not - that is group policy for an individual computer - it does not relate to OUs. When I look at individual computer GP, I see it as an option but not when I look at group policy for an OU.

    Enable Remote Desktop by GPO

I would like to enable remote desktop to an OU using Group Policy. Can this be done - also could you select a group of users to use remote desktop via Group Policy. Any help would be appreciated.

Slow Log on from XP box

Slow logon with windows XP is good indication that DNS setup is wrong. Check DNS settings and DNS server is set up correctly.

    DMZ to Domain data transfer

Why not just map a drive. Also you could enter in the local host file of server in DMZ the IP and name of server in LAN. If the firewall allows you access there should be no problem.

Hi, Does anyone know how I can set local admininstrator passwords for client computers connected to w2k domain - some sample logon script or is this possible to do in a group policy. Running Win2k domain with XP clients. Reason is many computers were set up and connected to domain with blank...

Cannot Install SP3 ("File Open or In Use")

I had similar issue recently. Someone had removed the security for accessing the file I was getting error message for. Maybe just have a look and check security tab for that file (right click on file - properties - security) and make sure system has adequate permission to replace the file.
