    The *XX activates speakerphone, no getting around that. Intercom plus (*) asterisk plus extension is how you page group and/or individual.     This happened numerous times until I discovered the pesky lil built-in Windows XP firewall. I could do all the things you listed, but never upgrade. I'm sure you already checked that, though. Sometimes, turning it on then turning it off and rebooting makes it "stick".
