Maybe this might help... I had similar problem after I installed Solaris 8. My CDE login screen kept showing me host unknown. Even if I change all the hosts files manually, after the reboot I would end up getting the same problem. SOLUTION ========= I ran sys-unconfig. Reconfigured my network...- shabu22
