When you set up your account on your RAS server go into your profile, properties, and go to the Dial-in tab and check the "Allow Access" button. This should allow you access.
I don't know if this will help you or not but here it goes. If you have a server at your main site, as I assume you do, all you need to do is set up an account on that server and "Allow access" to that server from that profile. Then you need the WAN IP address to set up a connection...
This is a problem that I've been dealing with. As far as I know in the case of the password complexity, unless you create something of your own, you are stuck with the policies that 2000 offers. I have researched to exhaustion a way of bypassing this with no success. If you do find a way...
Does anyone know the command line to monitor Network security from the command prompt. I think there is a way that I can do this from the command prompt to actually see where a hacker has attempted to break in. Can anyone help
The Domain Security Policy overrides the Local Security Policy. This is the same with the Domain Controller Security Policy. Lets say you set the Local Security Policy now and come back later and feel the need to set up a Domain Security Policy then the Domain Security Policy will override the...
I see what you are saying now. I don't know if there is a way to setup a VPN through a dial-up. Any setup that I normally work with is a choice between VPN or dial-up. And the VPN connections that I use are through DSL with remote access from dial-up modems. Sorry I could not be more help.
I am not sure what you are wanting to know but I think you can set up pvc's (private virtual connections) off your VPN connection through your ISP. You can assign what type of bandwidth you are wanting to use at a particular destination, for example, 56K connection through your ISP. This way...
I know in XP, by creating a new connection, I am able to connect to my 2000 server through a Remote Desktop Connection. This came built in the XP operating system so it was at no extra cost.
Be aware though if you do use that feature, someone who is clever enough can change there password before the first warning, (because the first warning is 14 days after the password is set), and keep the same password. When this is done before the first warning to change the password, the timer...
I just did a windows update on one of my workstations last night that I had to rebuild and everything that was updated came from SP3. But as far going out and getting it I am not aware.
I appreciate the tip and the link, however if you look at the link it allows you to change everything but the passwork complexity. So I am coming to the conclusion that password complexity is what it says very complex.
Thanks again
A lot of good information here but I am still waiting to give someone a star who can give me information on how to configure the password complexity rules.
Thanks
I just wanted to see if there was a way to configure the password complexity on Windows 2000. The only control I can find for it is to enable or disable it. Either way that doesn't seem to effect complexity. I ask this question because we had someone do some configuring on our Server's a...
