I think software publishing through AD is the obvious way to go. Does anyone know a good program that will easily package up apps into MSI packages? I tried the demo of wise installer and it was very confusing. Anything you guys could recommend?
Thanks.
I have a couple of questions about group policy.
#1 - This is a very basic question. Is group policy simply a front end for the registry? Is every setting made in group policy accesssible directly through the registry?
#2 - Let's say we want to take administrative access away from our users...
Oh i understand. I was interpreting that comment incorrectly. We'll need to use cached credentials so turning off protected storage won't be an option. I guess we'll live with authentication prompts being able to save passwords. Thanks.
Stopping the Protected Storage service will stop IE saving passwords, albeit you it will not stop an authentication prompt."
What did you mean by this?
I tried installing that update and bouncing our server over the weekend, but it is still cutting off my messages....any other ideas? I cant find anything else on MS's website....
We are in a workgroup now, but are in the process to upgrading to Active Directory. Basically we want to stop the saving of passwords in IE - not the passwords in forms, but the passwords that pop up on web pages to get through a proxy server...not sure if there's any other way to do it, but...
I am thinking of disabling the Protected Storage service so that passwords are not saved in IE. Will this impact a lot of other things outside of IE? Anything i should be aware of before I disable this service? Thanks.
Well in order to boot to your cd - did you boot to the bios and check the boot order? CD-rom should be first, floppy second, hard drive third.
When you installed 2k Pro did you upgrade from another OS or install froms scratch? I'd format the HD and instal from scratch if you haven't before.
