It sounds like your windows device tree is hosed. Have you tried XP's restore function? If the problem only recently occurred you may be able to restore to before the problem popped up.
I'm afraid that without editing the registry and or modifying/removing INF files your options may be limited...
I use the Cdock with a lattitude 610. I have to say in all my years dealing with PC's that the dock problems I have had are the worst.
I had a similar issue as you except my com ports were fine but secondary IDE refused to work properly when docked, or would lock the system.
It's been much...
Okay so you want to lower temperature?
1. Check your power supply fan. I know it sounds silly but I was in your situation with 2 case fans and a high dollar heat pipe heat sink and still hitting 60. The power supply fan was blowing but just barely. Heat rises so the PS fan is the most...
Hit F2 to get into the Dell BIOS and you can page over to a few options for the Dock. Try disabling COM1 on this page or changing the Cdock/II option regarding multiple docks.
Hope this helps.
BTW Dell outsources all of their tech to the lowest bidder so don't take anybody's word as...
It is definately assigning 2 (or more!) IRQ's to the card. What kind of motherboard do you have? If it is less than 2 years old then it should support the PCI enumeration that XP uses which allows 20+ IRQ's and shouldn't be a problem.
And XP loads it's first handful of drivers in the blink of...
And are those serial re-directors fit for your purpose? If the GPS is sending data to your program and your program never sends data to the gps then it might work but both programs are expecting exclusive access so logic tells me it won't work as well as you think. The globalsat GPS I use takes...
You cant.
The port is locked by the program and it is not designed to share the physical hardware with another program. The best you might be able to swing is have one of the programs stream the data to a file and have the other read it.
Okay so when you try the F8, safemode option do you make it to safe mode or does it lock up still?
XP is not robust when it comes to changing anything dealing with IDE, Firewire, or other storage devices. I have the same problem occasionally when I change my drive or firewire config.
XP is...
Is this an internal, serial, or USB modem?
It sounds like either the instalation is not completing all the way, or your registry isn't recording the information on the new hardware.
When you detect the modem and after you install it, does it show up in device manager? If it shows up with no...
I don't know any way off hand to do exactly what you need other than scripting on your server.
However if you are just looking to prevent security problems from people going home while logged into the network you might use the windows screensaver and check the password box.
Otherwise your...
