I am wanting to set up a DNS on a SCO server to be able to FTP files to ftp sites on the web directly from the SCO server. I would appreciate any tips or instructions or web sites to help get this going.

The script is written in Unix. The script calls another script to generate thne file in a report writer. I have the report writer generate part of the name because of it's limitations. How do I re-name the file including todays date?

There is a file on the CD. It is not loading the file onto the system and is hanging. That is the exact problem.

I am trying to load a file from the cd onto the SCO Unix server and the script doesn't complete so the end user breaks out of the script and the mount command is still running. I try a kill -9 and it does not stop the process. Any suggestions?

I am using a mount command in a script to load a file(s) from a CD and if it doesn't work we have to reboot the system to get the mount command to go away. How can I kill a mount process when the kill -9 does not work?

Does SCO Unix utilize a secure ftp command? And if so do the sftp and scp work or is there another command?

I superuser into an application and when I try to exit that application I lock up and do not come back to a command prompt. Does anyone have any idea's?

I am trying to remove the portion of this login(tty22): that syas (tty22). I am on an RS6000 and cannot tell if it can be removed by the port or if I need to go into /etc/profile or if it is a smit variable I can change. Any helpful hints would be great. Thanks ALL.

I am wondering what the best scenario is when calling a cobol program from a unix script. As an example I normally type RUN <program name>. How is the exec command different from the RUN?
