we have no way of knowing exactly how effecient microsofts upgrades are.. there always seems to be loopholes.. I would just use the free zonealarm, and make sure you at least have some kind of hardware firewall in place. And wait and see what develops from microsoft. It sounds like you already...
I understand this concept quite well... I'm just saying my router blocks everything outgoing and incoming except what I tell it to. I spent like $350 on it
Yup. :) You just tell it to do it and it will reboot the computer and go into DOS mode and the program runs and it will make the backup as often as you like.
just for testing purposes try a blank hard drive or even new memory or one simm at a time. I've seen this happen as a result of bad memory or hard drive/cd drive problems.
run the windows setup network configuration over again with the currect options that pertain to your PC and of course make sure the router or dsl/cable modem even works in the first place
In fact, Fujitsu laptops actually come with DriveImage LE, and the restore is on a secondary partition just like how I described. =) It's an excellent solution. But CDs are better just in case your hard drive goes out.
my netgear router blocks incoming and outgoing transmissions even if they do originate from trojans. But you are right you do need good Anti-virus software. I use norton corporate edition. Excellent software... I would suggest inventing in a good firewall/router. And just keep your virus...
