    The traffic to my site has increased sharply in the last few days. As a result, my server has been running very slow and crashes frequently. The load is not more than my machine should be able to handle (2000 page views/hour ... 700MHz/380MB RAM) so I think it's something in my config file...

    I tried setting RLimitCPU, RLimitMEM, and RLimitNPROC to large numbers but still no luck. Thanks for the suggestion.
