Hello All,
One of my customers had a problem with a corrupted registry hive that prevented the server from booting. The vendor suggested that a resolution was to restore the system state from a backup that was around a month old. After the restore, the server booted fine but now there is a...
This is an update to the thread regarding v2i protector. I seem to be having problems creating image files to a network drive. The image creation completes "successfully", but when I do a manual verify I receive a failure due to a "corrupt or unsupported file structure"...
I've downloaded rev 4454 three times on from three different networks and still the same result...a quick flick of the screen and then nothing. I'm starting to seriously explore another backup solution for my clients besides Veritas Backup Exec.
In attempting to reinstall BE 9.0 Rev 4454 in order to resolve another problem and now I am experiencing this error also. I have removed all traces of BE 9.0 per Veritas' "manual uninstall" procedure to know avail. Has anyone figured out a fix for this problem? I have yet to hear back...
Our company upgraded from 8.6 to 9.0 to fix some of the same probelems that the original poster mentioned. We have experienced nothing but problems with the 9.0 product and I have sworn off Veritas BE. The Interface is nice but the product itself is very erratic and buggy. I upgraded to revision...
Marvhuffaker,
Thanks for the insight. I apologize for taking so long to reply. I double checked the compression settings per your instructions. and they indeed were disabled. I found out the the source of my problem was the NLS_LSP transaction DB size was set too small. Once I increased the...
I have a Netware 5.1 server that is running SP6. This server has constant 20-40% processor utilization and constant drive access. The server is a Pentium III with 512 MB of RAM. This server never has more than 10 users connected to it...it functions as a departmental server, so it's never...
I too have experienced this same problem. I have to restore to a different location and then move the files to the original location. Veritas support was no help at all. This is just another irritating bug to go along with 2 or 3 other bugs in the 9.0 release
I too am experiencing this error but during restoring of files as opposed to backing up. I know previous versions of BE periodically experienced problems with accounts and passwords due to a corrupt password file, but with version 9 I had hoped that this problem would be corrected. The strange...
mot98,
Thanks for the feedback. I was able to rectify the problem with exchange by running BENT on the same server as exchange. I have a small shop so it's no big deal. Thanks.
Hello All,
Before I start to seriously investigate other enterprise backup alternatives I decided to take one more stab at resolving my Exchange 5.5 mailbox backup problems with BENT 8.5 3572. Here are the particulars:
* Exchange 5.5 server-SP4 running on W2K Adv. Srv. SP2 This server also...
You need to install the Gateway Service for Netware via Network Neighborhood properties. I suggest that you review the functionality of GSNW first as well as determining what what resources of the NDS tree you need access to.
I am encountering a problem with verifying backed up files with Backup Exec version 8.5 3572. The logs indicate a failed backup job with the following error..."Difference encountered in file data". I know the file hasn't changed and I receive this error even with backing up only one...
Hey Chaupa,
Thanks for your feedback. I thought about DNS issues and Active Directory also. I have decided to leave exchange 5.5 on the NT 4.0 box for now, and reinstall NT 4.0 on the new box, promote it to a PDC and then upgrade to W2k. Then I'll install Exchange into the same org. and site...
I probably wasn't clear regarding the status of exchange 5.5. There are no plans to upgrade Exchange 5.5 to exchange 2000. 5.5 will be used for the forseeable future or at least until the end of next year. Therefore, the Exchange 5.5 running on W2K will be the final configuration .There is no...
