Points well taken.. The Storage device is password secured but I wasn't thinking of all the other PC's across our LAN that might have Windows file sharing open. and passwords are easily hacked with this setup. VPN is the way to go.. Sometimes the obvious eludes me...
Thanks for the responses..
I have a storage drive at my office network that my PC maps a network drive to without any problems. I want to map to the drive from home, which is no problem if I DMZ our Dlink Firewall to the storage drive. I would like to only open the required ports, but I can't find out which ones they are...
Thanks for the post Marvin.
My experience supports your point. All of my Clients still use IPX with the Netware 4.1 through 6.x successfully.
The only common issue is printing more then one copy from "any" application from an XP-PRO workstation to a Novell Queue. No matter how many copies you...
Yes exactly.
My client is using a legacy application that only prints to queues, as well as new apps that are "ip" aware and are printing directly to other "ip" print servers and printers on the same network. There are no printing problems when printing to the "ip" printers, just the "ipx"...
Thanks for the suggestion, however I have the duplicated the problem with 4.83 and lower version of the client. Also on install, "ipx" is still an install option, even with with 4.91. No doubt "ipx" is dissappearing, but it is still out there and in use even in the Netware 6.x world.
Thanks Marvin,
I couldn't agree more that NDPS is the best solution.
Also I agree that it is a Windows XP issue, since I can not duplicate the problem with any other Windows version. However it is a going to be awhile before changing over since the main application (custom built multi location...
Thanks Jock,
I am using Netware Clients only (4.91 SP1). I have duplicated the problem with Netware 5 up to the current version 6.5. I also have printers set to print direct, but I have tried spooling just in case and the same thing happens. I really think this is an XP issue some how, but I...
Again good suggestion. I am sure I tried this before but I made the driver change (which was a bit of trick also) but had the exact same results.
As I stated in the beginning I have tried several differnet makes of printers and various drivers including generic drivers. In all cases the results...
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have tried several different printers as well as un-checking and checking the 'collate' box. In all cases the results are the same.
No matter what I try, printing from XP to a Netware queue will never yield more then one copy!!
I have a ipx based Netware 6.0 Server. I have printers on print servers the service print queues. All XP-PRO work stations have printers installed pointing to the print queues. No matter how many copies I request I only get ONE copy. It doesn't seem to matter which application I am using or what...

I recently saw an older application that included a popup calculator complete with a simulated paper tape. It also had the capabilty to paste a result into a "GET" or "Browse" field.
Anyone bump into something similar? I am looking for source code to add this utility to a couple of existing...
Well well well. It is interesting what you can find. It turned out the problem was a BHO. Specificaly "iexplorr22.dll" When I disabled it everything started to working correctly. Thanks for all the help everyone.
IE6 should have some kind of controls built in to allow you disable...
