Thank you ANFPS26. Swapping out the RAM worked. I took out three 64M/100 sticks from a working machine and swapped it out. Rebooted, and it resumed where it left off.
Trying to install Win98SE. Done the whole Fdisk/Format/Install routine. However, I am routinely running into the same problem.
During the second reboot, in the middle of the hardware detection phase, the logo screen locks up. The blue and white scroll-bar freezes, and nothing I can do will...
Slight correction, @ does not mean Default
@ is an MSDOS command for use within .BAT files. It means that the command in that line isn't shown on the screen when the batch file runs. It is similar to the ECHO OFF command which means that the batch file won't show anything until ECHO ON, and...

YoungManRiver - I have successfully configured machines in the past with the CDROM in Master, though not particulary this setup. When running CD intensive stuff such as games, having the CDROM in Master helps seek times.
I can try to switch them in this setup, but I fear that the...
saltrow - Thanks for the tip, here's a star. Though in the future you might wanna include URL's for stuff like that. I found them via Google though, and it's all good.
For the record though, and for the benefit of those whop might run into this problem in the future: Gdisk is part of Norton...
micker - I had the Bigfoot alone on the primary IDE, and the CDROM and the 200 on the secondary. I jumpered the 200 to slave, and the CDROM to master.
However, I am interested in that DEBUG routine. I have a couple of HDD's that FDISK gets stupid over. One of which I know works; it was...
I'm trying to put together a few useable PC's from a bunch of donated parts. I tried to slave a 200mb Seagate with a 12GB Quantum Bigfoot, to use as a swapfile.
Well, FDISK didn't like creating a partition on the Seagate, seeing as how when it tried to Verify Integrity, it would go up to about...
Point of clarification: Are you trying to do a clean install, or an install-over? And is this before you begin the Windows Setup cum Mating Dance routine, or is Setup trying to scandisk, and is hanging up in the process?
carrr: Thanks for finding the KB article. My favorite means of using...
Ouch
I feel for ya, dagcato. Sadly, there is no way that I know of to rescue a registry that badly corrupted without doing the "Hail Bill", (variation on the "Hail Mary".) Looks like you're going to have to hunt for a Win98 disk.
You can save yourself a lot of heartache in the future by doing...
Figured as much. It's been a while since I dealt with anything older than 98se, so I couldn't tell for sure off the top of my head.
And the registry comment is really just a standard disclaimer. Of course mucking about with that particular key isn't gonna crash the system, but Regedit isn't...
I'm not sure if it works in 95, but in Win98se you can run Regedit and drill down to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
then change the RegisteredOwner value to the name of your choice. Of course, take appropriate precautions when diddling around with the Registry
NEVER rely completely upon a program such as Dreamweaver!!!
You always have to have an understanding of the underlying code. Once you understand the code, (you did say you were brushing up on HTML, that's good,) then you have a basis for understanding what Dreamweaver is doing to that code.
