Can't find include file /usr/local/samba/lib/%u.conf"
When i change the ".../%u.conf" to ".../roland.conf"
in the smb.conf-file, testparm does not complain.
Thats it - the %u - variable seems not to be recognized
in the smb.conf - i wonder why...
(sorry for my late response, time is hitting me)
Hi all,
i'm just experimenting with dynamic share-handling
and have a little problem:
supposing a share in the smb.conf:
[my-share]
# ... some commands and then
root preexec = echo name: %u group: %g >> /home/roland/test.txt
Creates an entry in test.txt by window$-clicking to the share...
Hi folks,
i have a Samba-PDC and everything works fine
but: Windows- users are not able to change the
Password from their Windows-Boxes.
When i click the user/domain, there is the message
'The password for Roland cannot be changed' and
the 'Change password'-button is not active.

I dont change the profile-settings in the smb.conf -
i join a workstation to the domain with saveing profiles,
My Documents etc. at the first time and then(!)
i switch to the local profiles...
Yes, you're right. For whatever reasons Microsoft handles the Profile-Stuff and

I decided to do it without profile-saving because

100...
Well, on my Win2000-Box i fixed that with Start-> Settings ->
System Control -> System -> User Profiles, select
the Profile -> Change Type and Set the Radio Button
to 'Local Profile'. (Sorry, if the notations are not
exactly correct, i have only a german version of Windows)
Guess in XP it...
Hi all,
i'm trying to move from Samba-Workgroup Server to PDC
so i set the following globals:
[global]
workgroup = SAMBADOMAIN #formerly: SAMBAGRP
netbios name = HAMLET
security = DOMAIN # formerly: share
encrypt passwords = Yes
logon script = logon.cmd #new
logon home =...
Got it.
In my case, i installed the
patched(!) 4.8.3 Novell-Client
(e.g. from http://www.rz.uni-wuerzburg.de/dienste/arbeitsplatz/support/installation/clientdownload.html)
and it works fine.
Hope it helps, Roland.
Wow, so me!
I have exactly the same problem (and the
same environment)!
Wonder if it has s.th. to do with installation
under Administrator/Normal user. Let you know,
if i have further insights...
Stay tough!
Hm, normally, SWAT is started by the inetd- superserver, which requires the following
entry in the /etc/inetd.conf :
swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/sbin/swat swat
Maybe it is commented out?
Well, iff you still ogle with the database-storing,

may be helpful. (But like my colleagues, I would prefer the url-solution.)
