    Well, I think I just figured it out. I had Veritas Backup Exec installed... after removing it I can backup just fine with ntbackup! I'll see if I can still get Backup Exec working, but at least I know the hardware/drivers aren't bad!

    Well, I don't have much experience in the RSM MMC interface, but I don't see anything to erase/format. I can see the drive and tape. I can free tapes, and they end up in the free pool under miniQIC for the OnStream DI-30 library. But after that I don't see anything else that could let me...

    Yeah, it seems to happen with all my tapes, including ones with data on them and unused tapes. The format button is grayed out in ostape as well.
