1. If you need to see if the file changes in 30 minutes...
The only way I can think of is to write a personalized script to check for the existance of the file and write a timestamp somewhere. Either as a variable in memory to a small text file. Run the script every 30 minutes. You will...
I don't understand. If ServerB is your live MOM database which is also a Mgmt Server (not recommended) then your MOM reporting server should be on the same server as SQL Reporting Services (ServerA)
I notice the default MOM scripts have parameters that can be used.
When I add a new parameter I am only able to edit the parameter in the actual "edit script" windows. With the default scripts in Mom you can edit the parameters on the main rule window.
Has anyone ever used script parameters...
I doubt you can 'monitor' a computer through MOM without the agent actually on the computer. No rules apply to the machine without the agent software.
I guess it depends on what you want to monitor. I setup a script that checks Active Director queue length on my domain controllers that DO NOT...
Thank you both for your replies. I will try to redo SP4. I also turned off 'software compression' and turned on RAS tracing.
To re-iterate the problem. The server responds well to users. Then I will get the 20049 error once in a minute. The user cannot loggin. Then I will get 5 in a...
Has anyone experienced the following problem?
Server: W2K, RAS using PPTP.
Periodically I get:
Remote Access
"Event ID = 20049 - The user connected to port %blah% has been disconnected because the authentication process did not complete within the required amount of time"
No...
By default MOM has the following rule:
% Free Space Any Logical Disk
it's located at:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Operating System\Windows 2000 - All Computers\Threshold Performance Counters for Windows 2000\
Werner,
I had to write my own script to monitor services. The one out of the box only monitors Exchange. If you haven't figured this out then let me know and I'll post what I did. It's rather lengthy.
OK, I figured this one out so I thought I'd post it for any who needs to know.
For Windows NT/W2K users, you can use the CHECKRAS.EXE utility from the BackOffice Resource kit:

For Windows 95 users, check the registry...
VPN gurus....
With my current RRAS server I specify a particular IP address range to remote users. In my login script I can detect these users using their IP address.
With my new configuration I'm using DHCP Relay and am assigning remote clients the same IP address range as internal users...
Yes, after doing some reading I finally realized when they said 'offline' enterprise root CA they REALLY meant offline. I think I have the situation in order, thanks for your reply NTrOP
I'm setting up a new RRAS server for VPN and intend to use L2TP/IPSec so I need a certificate authority. If the CA is on the same server as the RRAS will it asign itself a certificate? Also would there be any security problems with this configuration?
xift,
This code is awesome. It'll solve half my problem. I guess I need to elaborate on what I need specifically.
In Active Directory, using ADSIEdit, I can look at values of certain attributes in Active Directory for each object. I can use object.Get("valuename") or...
I need an example of how to read and write hex values in AD using VBScript. I think this has to be loaded into an array but I can't find a good example in all my books.
In ADSIEdit the value is listed as "OctetString" and looks like this:
0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00...
I wish. There was a hug "Mail Cleanup" committee that determined that users need a month to review their mail before being deleted. It's out of my control. Upper management requested it this way.
