Brick Levels are difficult to carry out.
I had the same problem in our Exchange Cluster with windows 2000 two times.
The first time the problem only happened in one node so we moved the cluster and opened a HW ticket with our supllier.
In the other node of the cluster brick level backup worked...
I'm not sure if it aplies here but try to check if the exchange storage group or database where the mailbox is included is marked in properties as "allow this database to be restored".

Maybe the quickest way to find the las version of a file backed up is trying to restore it through the tree option and check it out the "version history"

Now we have reinstalled everything: ARCServe, ARC Clients, Exchange agent, all in properly order. We have pacthed everything with SP5 and try to launch a new backup.
But the process begins at 250 MB/min.
Then the store.exe at the exchange machine starts to feed all the memory...

- Double click on the Agent RPC service.
- Go to the "recovery" tab.
- Select "restart" on all three options.
